The United States Cutting Tool Institute is the premier trade association for all manufacturers of any type of cutting tools designed and sold to the metalworking, woodworking, and other industrial and consumer markets. The Institute recently amended its bylaws to include ANY North American manufacturer and/or re-manufacturer of cutting tools, as well as post-fabrication tool surface treatment providers. Members, which currently number approximately 75, belong to some 10 product divisions. A wide range of activities includes a comprehensive statistics program, human resources surveys and forums, development of product specifications and standards, and semiannual industry/Institute meetings meant to facilitate industry networking through the exchange of ideas and to identify and obtain information about important and emerging industry and market trends.
